New Land, New Shows Highlight May 2017 ~ Walt Disney World
As always at the Walt Disney World Resort there are many changes occurring and this May is no different, as it will bring 3 changes to 3 different parks.
The first change is definitely one I am most curious about. Starting on May 26th at Hollywood Studios, Disney will present 3 nightly showings of “The Music of Pixar Live” at the Theater of the Stars. This theater is currently used for “Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage”.
Do not worry that show schedule will be un-effected. This new limited time show is going to showcase famous music from hit Pixar films performed be a live orchestra. This films include the Toy Story and Cars movie series. There also will be special appearances from favorite characters such as Woody, Jessie, Mike and Sully, The Incredibles, and more. I have a feeling this is going to be a huge hit for people to see before heading next door to watch Fantasmic.
The next addition in May is something that not everyone is thrilled about. This is because it means a fan favorite show, Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams, is ending.
The famous nighttime firework show that debuted at Magic Kingdom replacing Fantasy in the Sky on October 9th, 2003 will have its last and final show on May 11th 2017. Its replacement Happily Ever After is scheduled to debut the very next day May 12th, 2017.
Disney is promising that it will combine the Magic of Disney storytelling, fireworks projection mapping, and beloved Disney Characters from: Moana, Brave, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, The Princess & The Frog, Aladdin, and more.
The biggest addition to Disney World not only this May but this year, is over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The long awaited Pandora: World of Avatar is scheduled to open May 27th. This will be the largest expansions at Animal Kingdom ever. It will feature 2 brand new attractions.
First, Avatar Flight of Passage a thrilling flight simulator through Pandora. Second, Na’vi River Journey a family friendly boat journey deep into the Valley of Mo’ara. While those two new rides will be a big part of the draw to the newest land, Disney is promising up a very immersive land where you will find floating mountains, exotic plants that come to life with beautiful bioluminescence each night, and one of kind dining and shopping experiences. This is definitely a land that I believe people will be spending a lot of time in.
And since we are going to be in Pandora for a while, the subject of food is going to come up.
Look at these beautiful dishes that will be available, to order via the My Magic App, once Pandora opens.
