Cheers, and welcome to our 21st Mako construction update on the coaster that is just over 2 weeks from its grand opening. Lots of great touches are going on around the area of Shark Wreck Reef.
This week to start we see some small rock-work has been done in front of the area entrance sign:
Moving on into the area, we are starting to see what I would guess is the 3 learning zones that were mentioned on a recent hard hat tour. These themed shipwreck pieces I have been highlighting in recent posts seems to be the perfect place, and now they have neat messages on 2 of the 3:
On the bigger themed learning zone, again just speculation, where are some displays showing off different facts about sharks, their predators, and more!
Also in this area, we notice the new overhead Shark Encounter sign looking fantastic as well as some nice touch up coloration on the Sharks Underwater Grill display:
Next up, the shop formerly known as Fins has reopened; without a name currently:
Inside we find lots of cool new merchandise blending a combination of Dr. Guy Harvey with Mako merchandise available:
Speaking of Dr. Guy Harvey, he stopped by 5/23 and 5/24 to paint a beautiful mural on the side of Reef’s Treasure exit shop. Here area few shots of the artist making progress on each day.
Back to the unnamed shop outside each door we noticed 3 cut outs like the one pictured below. We’re thinking at this point this could be for a new sign for the shop and possibly even more themeing for the area:
Nearby at the Panini Shop we had a chance to pick up our Mako souvenir cup ready to keep us hydrated on those hot Florida days and let’s be honest there is a lot of them!
The rock-work under the main part of the shipwreck has begun getting more color as well:
Back on the subject of new signage, we now know the exit shop will be named Reef’s Treasures thanks to this gorgeous sign:
But the best sign of all in my opinion has been added, we officially have the Mako logo sign over the entrance:
Closing out our update it looks like some new food options will be coming this area via a new food truck. But we also notice lots of Coke Freestyle stuff on it too. WildGravity Travels would like to be the first to report that there is a high likelihood that Mako will be getting its very own Freestyle Mix much in the way Antarctica’s area got the Arctic Chill flavor.
Well we hope you enjoyed that update as much as we loved seeing all the new features in the area! As a reminder there is still time to reserve your 1 time quick queue if you a pass-holder and plan ahead for the other benefit of early ride mornings:
