LEGOLAND Announces The Great LEGO Race
LEGOLAND has announced that they will be debuting Virtual Reality on three of their roller coasters around the world. This brand new experience will be called The Great LEGO Race. Guests will not have to wait long, as this will be opening as soon as late 2017 at the LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort. In 2018 we will also see this debut at the LEGOLAND Florida and Germany’s LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort.
Merlin Magic Making, the company’s global creative and delivery division, will be transforming their current “Project X” roller coasters into this new and exciting project The Great LEGO Race. This new ride will feature racers from the popular LEGO minifigure mystery assortments. Riders will race against their favorite minifigures in an environment where everything is made of LEGO’s
The entrance and queue for this attraction will be redone and feature hands-on elements to entertain waiting riders. Bluetooth technology will be used to sync up the virtual visuals with the ride vehicles movements. Also if VR is something that is not for you, rest assured that you will still be able to enjoy the ride without wearing the VR headset. A new pre-show will compare the experience with side by side views of the physical coaster track and virtual reality environment. This new experience is designed for riders aged 6 and older. Children under the age of 6 that meet the ride’s minimum height requirement may ride without the VR headset.
