King’s Island’s International Street Getting Full Overhaul
It looks like Kings Mills Antique Autos won’t be the only new addition to Kings Island for the 2019 season. Today the shared several shocking pictures and video showing off some significant demolition around the park’s signature International Street.
In the first photo above, we see the concrete seating area around the fountain has been torn up. Not sure if new concrete seating will return but let’s dive into what was shared by Digital Marketing Manager Don Helbig.
Don writes: “No element of International Street will be left untouched as crews update the Royal Fountain, install more than 130,000 new pavers, improve each building façade and enhance the landscaping. The renovation will take guests back to what Kings Island looked like when the park first opened, allowing guests to discover the magic of International Street again.”
We can see in the picture shared below that larger fountain pieces are sitting on the midway:
Back to Don: “Technology upgrades to the Royal Fountain will allow for choreographed daytime and nighttime shows featuring water that shoots 50 percent higher into the air, and the ability to individually control each of the fountains new 112 nozzles and 176 LED lights. An expanded bandstand stage in front of the Eiffel Tower will allow for bigger celebrations and performances.”
This is especially exciting given the awesome new show with great lighting we saw debut this past season at the park! Take a look back at our video of the show, showing off the lighting and fireworks spectacular below:
