Kings Island Winterfest New Additions for 2018

As the 2018 holiday season approaches we wanted to give our fans a look at the new offerings we expect to see at Kings Island’s Winterfest when it opens black Friday! Let’s start off with a look at the map for this year’s event:

Tinsel Town

Tinseltown represents the rest of Coney Mall as the event expands to nearly all the park’s pathways this year, including the pathway behind Backlot Stunt Coaster.  The Mistletones will entertain here this season and the new area will also feature a couple other new offering listed below. Also featured here will be a classic aluminum tree, holiday tunes, and the occasional snowfall.

Tinsel Town Diner

Known the rest of the season as Jukebox Diner, Tinsel Town Diner will serve up some specialty patty melts and mushroom Swiss burgers.

Carriage Rides

Also new and in Tinsel Town, Carriage rides will allow you to take in the sights and sounds on a horse-drawn carriage for an additional fee. Not many details are known about this yet, but looks as if the rides start just behind the Zephyr swings.

Smokehouse Christmas

Coney Bar-B-Que was an awesome new addition to the season and for Winterfest transforms into Smokehouse Christmas. The menu is currently described as “Offering holiday inspired barbecue favorites and our mouth-watering rotisserie chicken, along with a fresh selection of hearty sides” We hope to see some of the tested “specials” we saw through the regular season,  become a permanent staple, especially the roasted turkey with cranberry bbq sauce.

On another positive note for this location on the final weekend of Haunt we discovered heaters had been installed over the seating area:

Christmas Collections

A new shopping experience comes to International Street with beautiful gifts from Karen Didion, Bethany Lowe, Jim Shore, and more! This location seems to already have been set up before the end of the regular season so we captured a few pictures.

Jack Frost’s Igloo Village

A wonderful new premium experience is coming to what the map show to be under the Eiffel Tower. We’ll let the park describe this one:

Come chill-out in one of Jack Frost’s high-end Igloos! Furnished with comfort and warmth, this is the perfect spot to take a break and soak-in the beauty of WinterFest! Each reservation allows groups of 4 (additional guests can be purchased) to take advantage of concierge services such as: igloo food & beverage delivery, reserved seating at select shows, event host to plan-out your night, hot chocolate souvenir mug and cookie decorating, and a complimentary ice skating or carriage ride session. The fun doesn’t stop there, Mr. Frost has arranged for special surprises throughout the night!

Cost is $299 for 4 people.

New Rides Operating

As we told you back in May, Flight of Fear and Shake, Rattle and Roll will be new additions in the rides offered during Winterfest.

Operating hours for Winterfest have expanded slightly from last year, with the biggest news being New Year’s Eve! We’re told the rides will operate weather permitting on NYE until 10PM then a family friendly event with dance parties, characters, and more will ensue!

The fountain was already being prepped for Ice Skating on closing day of the regular season:

For more on Winterfest before this year’s event kicks off be sure to take a look back at our post from last year! Of course also stay tuned as we’ll have opening night coverage and beyond for this year’s event as well!
