Kings Dominion Adding Twisted Timbers AND Winterfest in 2018

After eight long years without any new coaster, Kings Dominion has announced that a new coaster by Rocky Mountain Construction, Twisted Timbers, will be added in 2018!

Like most other converted RMCs, Twisted Timbers will follow a similar layout as its predecessor Hurler. Here are the general stats and information:

  • 111 feet tall
  • 109 foot barrel roll immediately after the lift (similar to Kentucky Kingdom’s Storm Chaser)
  • 3 inversions
  • 20 airtime moments
  • 54 miles per hour
  • 3,361 feet of track

An interesting note is that the original Hurler was 3,157 feet long, making this RMC conversion a bit longer than the original. This will bring Kings Dominion’s total of coasters to thirteen!

It was announced that the Pre-K pass will return for children ages three to five for free admission.

Kings Dominion has also announced that Winterfest will come to the park in 2018. Last year we saw the announcements of Winterfest for Kings Island, Worlds of Fun, and Carowinds, with Kings Dominion unfortunately getting passed over. Winterfest will include ice skating on the fountain at the front of the park, cookie decorating, and ice skating shows, and most of the rides will be open. Winterfest will be included with a 2018 gold season pass.

Kings Dominion announced that 2018 will be their largest year ever for all ages, from thrill seekers to families. The additions of Twisted Timbers and Winterfest both hold up to that.

Check out some of our Hurler pics that we took at Kings Dominion on August 8 of the first of the two highest pieces of Twisted Timbers being topped off:
