Huge Expansion for Disney’s Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach Resorts
Earlier today we talked about a the possibility of a gondola transportation system coming soon to Disney World. You can read more about that here.
Today, Disney announced a huge multi year expansion and transformation to Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach. This should begin later this year and be completed in 2019 which aligns with the opening of Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios. The expansion at Coronado Springs will bring a new 15-story 500 room tower. This expansion will bring with it suites and concierge services. This move seems to be in part to help cater to the convention demographic who sometimes expect a higher level of service than the current level offered at Disney’s moderate level resorts. The current rooms will go under refurbishment. Disney also will be transforming the landscape and resort grounds to include floating gardens as well as an island oasis that will connect the resort through a series of bridges. The coolest feature I believe is the rooftop dining that will be offered on top of the new resort tower. This should offer wonderful views of the Disney World Resort as well as spectacular views of the nightly fireworks shows.
Over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach new additions will added to the marketplace that will include new waterfront dining as well as new retail shopping districts. This announcement leads us to believe that we should be hearing more about the addition of DVC as well as a gondola transportation system to Caribbean Beach soon. Of course we will always bring you the latest information as more develops.
