Great Pumpkin LumiNights ~ Dollywood

A new event is coming to the park known for having great ones. Great Pumpkin LumiNights joins the park this fall and runs in conjunction with Dollywood’s Harvest Festival presented by Humana 9/29-10/28. This marks the first time Dollywood has stayed open everyday during this event season as well!

So what is Great Pumpkin LumiNights?

From Timber Canyon to Wilderness Pass families will marvel in the glow of thousands of intricately carved pumpkins and larger than life displays!

Going beyond the displays families will find a number of exciting ways to create memories together at LumiNights. Dollywood will feature pumpkin carving artists and demonstrations on how to carve the perfect pumpkin.

Unique harvest games and attractions include:

  • A glow maze for kids after dark

  • A nightly pumpkin boogie dance party
  • Friendly costumed characters adding to the festive atmosphere!

New themed food options and exclusive harvest-themed Coca-Cola products make Great Pumpkin LumiNights the place to be when the sun goes down in the Smokies.

Personal Thought from Jim

I’m glad to see Dollywood expanding on one of their biggest strengths, special events. Great Pumpkin LumiNights takes the fun of the Harvest Festival and expands on it! The fact it is happening at a park known for amazing special events, arguably the best in the industry, makes me excited to visit during the festival.

Also happening during some of Great Pumpkin LumiNights is the largest Southern gospel music festival with many notable names:

  • Gold City (Oct. 2-3)
  • The McKameys (Oct. 6-7)
  • The Isaacs (Oct. 12-13)
  • Guy Penrod (Oct. 23-24)
  • Karen Peck & New River (Oct. 21-22)

Speaking of special events, the best Christmas event at a park returns once again Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana. (11/4-1/1/2018). The event has been honored for nine-consecutive years with Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket for Best Christmas Event.

“I just love Christmas at Dollywood, and I know you all do too,” Parton said. “The Parade of Many Colors is back this Christmas, along with seven holiday shows and four million beautiful lights. We even have Rudolph and his friends back for another year of creating family memories. It will be a November and December to remember!”

From the spectacular shows and elaborate holiday decorations to the four million sparkling lights and Christmas-themed menus, Dollywood captures the essence of Christmas in the Smoky Mountains.
