Forbidden Frontier replacing Dinosaurs Alive ~ Cedar Point 2019
As we and many others have predicted Dinosaurs Alive will close at Cedar Point. The major difference is the attraction will close on 9/3 instead of the end of the season. This was shared via this video from the park’s Twitter account:

Take a look back at our walk-through of the attraction from earlier this season:
So of course in that first video we got a bit of a tease as to what will replace the Dinos for now, Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island:
A small description page exists to sort of tell us about the new adventure coming in summer 2019. Here’s what the page reads:
Grab your map and prepare for a minute-by-minute real-life adventure, where you and others are challenged, questioned and pushed to the limits in both brain and brute power. Be immersed in interactive encounters with the island inhabitants, push yourself with physically active challenges that test your resourcefulness and fortitude! It’s your job to discover and uncover all that you can; to solve the mystery surrounding the Forbidden Frontier, and return to tell the tale. Every ending is different and determined by you and the secrets you unlock!
The secrets of the Forbidden Frontier will be revealed as we unlock the adventure map.
To me, it sort of sounds like Amazing Race meets an escape room, but we’ll have to for more details to emerge and to see if there are any new rides involved. I wouldn’t ruler out the park adding at least one flat ride especially with the upcoming closure of Witch’s Wheel also on 9/3.
We speculated earlier this year that this would be one area to watch at the park for development. Whether permanent or just a temporary usage for the pathway is yet to be seen. But I do find it particularly interesting that when the video starts talking about the new area we first see the vacant Shoot the Rapids space. Perhaps this is phase one and we see rides in 2020? Only time will tell!
